Mechanical Monsters PF1 PDF is up! And Mediterranean Monsters are coming!

Hi all, 

The PDFs for Mechanical Monsters PF1 are heading out now through Backerkit! Check your downloadables there and you should find the file in its 172 pages of cybernetic rock-em-sock-em robot action! 

We also have been hard at work on the Pathfinder 2E version of Mechanical Monsters. We are about halfway through the monster list so far, with more coming in every few days from our freelance team. We'll be running a followup Quick-Starter later this summer for Mechanical Monsters, emphasizing the Pathfinder side, and are hoping to have VTT support lined up for those versions as well! 

Last but not least, Mediterranean Monsters 5E is coming in June to Kickstarter!

We are traveling this month through Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, meeting with contributors and doing research (in addition to some vacation time and going to a wedding) in preparation for our next exciting Kickstarter project coming your way with our latest Legendary Beasts book - Mediterranean Monsters! Following in the grand tradition of supplements like Mythos Monsters, Sea Monsters, Asian Monsters, Latin American Monsters, and of course Mechanical Monsters, this book will feature over a hundred killer creatures from the marvelous mythologies of Greece, Italy, Malta, Sardinia, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya, complete with awesome artwork and rich lore.

We'll probably run this as two separate projects, the first as 5E with the bonus we'll be offering the extended 2nd (and hopefully 3rd) chapters of the Greek-inspired Mother of Monsters Adventure Path to really make a campaign drawing on the mythology of the Mediterranean come to life! That AP only exists for 5E, so it makes the most sense to bundle those parts together.

However, we already have our PF1 and PF2 teams working on it as well and will then do a followup campaign for both Pathfinder versions of the bestiary. We hope you'll check it out and share the good news with your friends and fellow gamers!

We will be launching this project in June after we return from our trip, but our talented team has already been hard at work for quite some time and this book is coming together and looking fantastic! Please share the pre-release link with all your friends and fellow gamers and help hype it up!

Mechanical Monsters 5E Roll20 codes are up in Backerkit!

If you ordered this VTT module as part of your rewards, swing on by Backerkit and get your code to input into Roll20 to unlock the module. Each code is unique so you shouldn't have any problems, but if you do reach out to Roll20 support and they can help with whatever your issue might be! 

PS - We had a great time in Morocco doing research for the upcoming Mediterranean Monsters, and now we're on to Spain, where we'll be meeting up with several local collaborators to help make this book truly Legendary! 

Mechanical Monsters VTT Pawn Set is up! Pathfinder almost here!

Hi all,

Quick update to let you know I've received the VTT Tokens from our VTT guy and uploaded a ZIP file of those tokens to the Dropbox. 

Mechanical Monsters 5E has been submitted to Roll20 for their approvals, so we'll let you know once that has processed and is ready to go live and we can send out download keys! He's now working on Mechanical Monsters PF1 so we look forward to getting that one live as well. 

Speaking of Mechanical Monsters PF1, it's almost ready to set up the download. I've done the final review and we need to fix a couple of pages but once it's done I'll get it uploaded to Backerkit and send it over to the printers for review! 

We look forward to getting this Quick-Starter finalized and we are already hard at work assembling our next one, Mediterranean Monsters, featuring over 100 killer creatures from the myths and legends of Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sardinia, Malta, and Egypt! We'll have more information soon and are working to get our Kickstarter page set up so you can sign up for early notification and to be ready for launch in June!

Hi all,

Thanks for your feedback on the 5E version of Mechanical Monsters! We've had layout fix some proofing issues but, more importantly, played around with the page backgrounds to make it much easier to read! We're now exporting the print package to our printer and will be working through their review process to make sure it's 100% ready to hit the presses and get packed and shipped to us! 

As for the change in layout artists, we mentioned in our previous update the cascade of devastating health issues striking the Stephens family, most especially Owen but also our layout artist, Lj, who is now getting ready for surgery of her own. Given the seriousness of the situation, we pivoted work on Mechanical Monsters to one of our other layout artists once he had finished work on the Ultimate Treasury (aside from the final adjustments in our review with the printer). Lj provided all of her files, which were very nicely organized, so he's been able to pick up and make the adjustments on the 5E book without any major delays and will begin work soon on the PF1 version that Lj had only just begun.

It's not too much to say that Owen and Lj are two of the nicest people I have ever had the good fortune to meet and work with, in addition to being a terrifically talented team of gaming professionals. You can see how well regarded Owen is in the gaming community by the fact that something like 20-30 companies (including Legendary Games, of course) have come together to create not one but two special mega-bundle offers to help raise funds to help their family cope with this avalanche of medical expenses and the inability to work in the midst of them. As for Pathfinder, we'll let you know when the PF1 version of the book is on approach. In addition, following the requests of many of our fans, we've been putting together a PF2 version of the bestiary plus a companion player-focused book with mechanical options that we'll be launching as a Quickstarter later this year. Work is coming along nicely and we'll keep you up to date as it continues!

Thanks so much for your patience with the delay on this project. See the bottom of this message if you want more information on the source of the delay. For those who just want to get to the good gaming stuff, I'm happy to report that all revisions are complete and that the final version of Mechanical Monsters for 5E is ready for download on Backerkit! 

• Pathfinder: Now that we are back on track, layout has begun on Mechanical Monsters for Pathfinder RPG as well, and we look forward to having that ready for you soon. 
• VTTs: We're still waiting on word from Roll20 on when Mechanical Monsters 5E will be available there. I can see the module completed from my end but it's still in the approvals queue and has not been made public from the marketplace side. In the meantime, we've begun work on Mechanical Monsters 5E for Foundry and Shard VTT as well! 

We've been very proud of our record of immediate fulfillment on our "Quick-Starters" and so this has been a frustrating experience, but all things considered turnaround is still pretty quick, so we're content. We definitely want to get this one finalized, though, because we've got some terrific new products coming your way soon! 

For those who want more information on the delay in process...

Our layout artist, Lj Stephens, is married to the legendary Owen KC Stephens, who in addition to being a legendary game designer for Wizards of the Coast, Paizo, Green Ronin, his own Super Genius and Rogue Genius Games, and a collaborator on numerous occasions with Legendary Games, is also one of the nicest, most generous, and all-around best people you could ever want to meet. He's also been having a catastrophic cascade of health problems, starting with pneumonia, progressing to blood clots and a pulmonary embolism, and following that up with a cancer diagnosis. Lj, who at least as awesome of a person of Lj and a legendary gamer in her own right, has been managing all of Owen's care and visits for the past several months, on top of dealing with some of her own recent health issues that will be requiring surgery in the near future. 

If you'd like to know more, Owen has been very open about his medical situation and process and shares updates on Facebook and on his blog. If you'd like to know what you could do to help out this amazing couple and get some killer game content at the same time, you can join Owen's Patreon or, if you like make a direct contribution at their Ko-Fi. He's also running a number of special mega-bundle deals to help raise money for medical expenses. He had one earlier this month on Bundle of Holding and will have one next month on DrivethruRPG, and Legendary Games has contributed half a dozen products to that bundle to help sweeten the pot.
